World Tin Bath Championships

Robert Bostrom makes a splash for Positive Bones at the World Tin Bath Championship!

In July 2022, Robert (Bob) set out in the World Tin Bath Championships in a bid to raise money for Positive Bones! With tall his 6ft4 frame squeezed into his little red tin bath he finally answered the question ‘To Bob, or not to Bob’ with the answer being - to sink! Surrounded by many other tin bath competitiors and watched on by a bustling Castletown Harbour Bobby set off in a bid to win the race but soon found his bath filling with water Positive Bones logo and all. In the true spirit of the games he was greeted by cheers and applause as he made his way back to shore, albeit little wetter than we he set out.

“Held in Middle Harbour in Castletown this event is, as it sounds, a race around the harbour in strictly regulated tin baths, some of which may be less than seaworthy. Organised by the Castletown Real Ale Drinkers Society the race was started in 1971 and all the money raised by the event goes to local charities.

Over 100 entrants attempt the 400m course each year including visitors from around the world. In addition to the main race there is plenty else to do on the day including the "Snake Race" around the harbour and attempts at human-powered flight to watch, making it an ideal day out for the family.”
