Apply for Funding

Do you have a limb disability?

Are you looking for help to buy equipment, a service or prosthetic that would enable you to do something you love?

You’ve come to the right place

Positive Bones believes in empowering those with limb disabilities by providing grants for specialist equipment, services or prosthetics that enable you to live life, limitlessly.

At Positive Bones we believe in providing empowerment to those with limb disability including those with limb difference and/or amputees (limb loss) through community, support and opportunity. Often, when we have the opportunity to try something new, get back to something we love, or be more comfortable doing the things we know; it can help motivate us and support positive mental health which is at the heart of Positive Bones. We also know that, when you have a limb disability, sometimes you might need something extra to support you in those endeavours; from physio to orthotics, walking sticks to prosthetics; which is why grants are at the core of what we offer at Positive Bones.

We will support you together so that you can do it alone.

How do I apply?

It's important to be prepared before you begin your application as all successful applications for grants will only be paid within 6 months of the successful decision being made.

At the end of this 6 month period, if you have not purchased your specialist equipment/service/prosthetic your application will be nullified and you will need to reapply.

To support you through the process we have broken it down into 4 easy steps

4 Simple Steps to your Funding Application

Grant Limit

As a charity we rely on sponsorship and donations to provide our funding and so each year, in order to ensure we can support as many people as possible we apply a ‘grant limit’. This year we are excited to say that we are able to provide grants of up to £3000.00 per successful applicant.

Hoping to buy an item of equipment, a service or a prosthetic above this cost?

No problem, you can still apply. The grant limit is just a limit on what we are able to provide, not on your aspirations.

Please note: If you are applying for a grant for an item of equipment, a service or a prosthetic that costs more than the yearly limit, you need to provide additional evidence to support your application. Click here for further details.

Whilst we will always strive to fulfil the request of every eligible applicant the number of grants we are able to provide at any time is limited. Therefore eligibility does not guarantee that we will be able to provide your grant.

*There are a number of charities that support veterans with limb related injury that are able to offer more specialised support. If you would like further details on this email us

Now you have all of the information, you’re ready to Apply!

Your application will be reviewed and you will be informed of the outcome within 3 months from the date of submission.

How are applications for funding assessed?

In the application process the information that you provide is used to create a holistic picture of your limb difference; your request for equipment or support, how it would impact your life, your financial position and the support that is already available on the NHS in your area. We assess all applications against these criterion to ensure applications are assessed objectively and with the least bias possible. The application process has been thoughtfully developed to ensure it is as accessible and equitable as possible.

As part of our applications procedure, we are ensuring we implement a strong equalities process to make sure we are being fair and inclusive at every stages. Our equality and diversity data is assessed each quarter to allow us to review our outreach and ensure we are supporting those most in need.
